Hello and welcome to www.zumbasandy.com

I qualified as a Zumba® instructor in May 2010 and have loved teaching dance exercise classes ever since! I teach in Cropwell Bishop and Upper Saxondale in Nottinghamshire.

I use Zumba®-style music as well as recent chart hits which will guarantee to get you dancing, twirling and jumping about the place! I do a mix of dance and exercise styles.  Through a combination of aerobic and rhythmic dance moves, we aim to target all the major muscle groups in the body.

I have a great mix of enthusiasts at my classes - mum’s returning to exercise after months (and years) of absence, tri-athletes, active pensioners and hard-working professionals and students who need to burn off steam and calories. Everyone simply wants to have fun and keep fit at the same time. You can exercise at a level which is right for you, making it as high or low impact as you like.

Classes & Locations

Cropwell Bishop : Old School, Fern Road, (next to church)
Wednesdays : 7.30pm – 45min class
Upper Saxondale : Community Hall (next to tennis courts and children’s play park – follow Westminster Drive all the way round)
Fridays : 9.15am – 45 min class

Class Prices

Advance payment : £4.50 per class. Payment is made up front for the term and allows for one week of non-attendance, as I appreciate that life can sometimes get busy. (So if a term comprises 7 classes, you pay for 6 classes in advance and if you attend the 7th class too, you pay £4.50 for that class.)

Pay as you go : £5 per class

What people say…

People say how friendly and fun the classes are. I have had some people attending classes for years…

“Really fun, great de-stress and a hundred different ways to move your body and jump around! Sandy is an excellent instructor and has kept me interested and motivated for more than 2 years!”  - Lindsey

“Fantastic, always leave feeling happy and sweaty!” – Helen

“Great exercise, enthusiastic teacher, friendly atmosphere.” - Anna

“Best Zumba class I’ve been to by far. Sandy was a great find!” - Sophie

What should I wear or bring to class?

What should I wear to class?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. Your clothing should keep you cool and allow you to move freely.

Which shoes are best?

Again - personal preference and comfort are key. I’d suggest you wear "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes which provide cushioning and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. They also have low traction rubber for easy sliding, turning and getting those hips moving!

Take care if you wear running shoes as they tend to have a heavy tread on the soles designed for forward motion only.

Should I bring anything else?

Remember to bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated, a towel to mop your brow and your own carefree style!

It would be really appreciated if you could bring the correct change to pay for your class - thank you!

Indemnity form

All class participants are required to complete an indemnity form prior to attending a class. Please arrive at your first class five minutes early to allow enough time to complete the form. Alternatively, please feel free to print out and complete this form and bring it along to your first class.  Thank you.

What is Zumba®?

Zumba® is a calorie-burning dance exercise featuring interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, plus resistance moves are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add a bit of Latin flavour and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba® feel!

In my classes we do a mix of dance, Zumba® and exercise styles, combining aerobic and rhythmic dance moves to challenge our cardio, flexibility and strength fitness levels.

Music and rhythms

Music is a key ingredient in any dance exercise class. The Zumba® music score is created with specific beats and tempo changes which take the workout through various toning, strengthening or cardio moves. The routines use a variety of dance styles including cumbia, salsa, merengue, reggaeton, mambo, cha-cha-cha, samba, belly dancing, hip-hop and more...

It's easy

It really is simpler than it looks. You don't have to know how to dance. You may get the moves more quickly if you have a natural sense of rhythm, but everyone gets there with their own unique style!

It's fun

Some of the best classes are where people go left instead of right and everyone has a good laugh! Every class I have ever participated in has been fun – everyone smiles, laughs and enjoys themselves. You'll have such a great time, you'll forget you're exercising and burning calories!

It's great for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels

You can exercise at a level which is right for you, making it as high or low impact as you like. Each routine has a mix of simple and more complex steps and you can choose which ones work best for you.
